NESVIZH, 17 September (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in strengthening its partnership with Russia’s Vladimir Oblast. Among the priority areas are industrial cooperation, construction, and tourism, Belarus’ Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said during a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast, BelTA has learned.

Yuri Chebotar headed the Belarusian side of the working group. He emphasized that the number one priority is industrial cooperation. Belarus sees significant potential in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, and the chemical industry.

Another key sector is agriculture. Belarus is ready to fully meet demand for high‑quality food products. Cooperation is also developing in construction, with Belarusian builders involved in the creation of important facilities for the region. Housing and utilities are also a notable area of interaction.

In January-July 2025, trade between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast exceeded last year’s level by 4%. Belarus is interested in further expanding mutual supplies.

“We maintain regular contacts. We see that trade is gaining momentum, but the potential is much greater. We need to look for additional reserves,” Yuri Chebotar noted.

He also highlighted joint investment projects in tourism. Belarus has set the goal to double the contribution of the tourism industry to GDP within five years. “It will be useful for us to exchange experience in this area,” the minister stressed.

The minister highlighted the agreement to establish friendly relations between Nesvizh and Suzdal. This document has the potential to serve as a springboard for holding joint festivals and creating mechanisms to develop hospitality and leisure infrastructure.

“We are also open to other initiatives: any ideas that can broaden our cooperation deserve attention and support,” Yuri Chebotar said.

A delegation from Russia’s Vladimir Oblast, headed by Governor Alexander Avdeyev, is on visit in Belarus until 19 September. The meeting of the working group focused on opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation, create new industrial, agricultural, and construction partnerships. It also touched upon the existing potential in the tourism sector.

Head of the Russian side of the working group Alexander Avdeyev thanked Belarus for the warm welcome and congratulated Belarusians on People’s Unity Day, wishing the country prosperity and peaceful skies. “Our cooperation is picking up steam despite sanctions pressure. We value what is produced in Belarus and plan to continue working together. Special thanks go to Belarusian builders, who carry out their work with quality and on time. We are planning new projects and considering expanding cooperation in agriculture as well. We also regard tourism as one of the priorities. Its role should grow. It involves small and medium‑sized businesses and a culture of hospitality. We can be of use to each other,” Alexander Avdeyev emphasized.
