MINSK, 6 January (BelTA) – Currently, 13 ports of the Russian Federation are being used for the export of Belarusian products. InJanuary-October 2025, the volume of cargo transported through them increased by 3.7% year-on-year, Belarus’ Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich said in an interview with the Economy of Belarus Magazine.
Major changes in the external environment have had a significant impact on the development of the country’s transport complex. The main flows of Belarusian export cargo have been redirected eastward, using the transport and logistics infrastructure of friendly countries: Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Cooperation with these partners has made it possible to form a new transport and logistics framework for Belarusian exports.
"A pilot project has been implemented to consolidate and deliver goods to distant markets. Belarusian export cargo has been shipped to Africa (Egypt, South Africa), Latin America (Nicaragua), Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Myanmar, Republic of Korea, India), and the Middle East (UAE)," the minister said. “To reduce delivery costs for Belarusian exports, the ministry is negotiating lower railway tariffs. As a result, the railway administrations of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan have granted discounts on certain types of Belarusian cargo.”
An important condition for the stable operation of the transport complex is the development of infrastructure that ensures the competitiveness of transit and domestic routes.
"Together with our Russian colleagues, we are continuing to modernize sections of the railway infrastructure of the 9th Pan-European Transport Corridor toward the ports of northwestern Russia. Completion of the work is scheduled for 2026," Aleksei Lyakhnovich added.
