ICAO's draft report on Ryanair flight incident unavailable to Belarus

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – The Aviation Department has not received the International Civil Aviation Organization's draft report on the Ryanair FR4978 flight incident. Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Artyom Sikorsky made the statement during a press conference on 3 November, BelTA has learned.

Artyom Sikorsky said the ICAO has yet to inform the Belarusian side about when the report may be reviewed. “There were two options. If the investigation team manages to polish the final report, it will be reviewed within the framework of the 224th session, which will end in late November 2021. If the team cannot finish the report once again, the review will be delayed to the 225th session, which will begin in February 2022. The Aviation Department has not received a draft of the final report yet,” the official said.

Artyom Sikorsky added that the report has to be sent to the Belarusian side before the document is reviewed during an ICAO Council session. “We don't see hopes that this matter will be looked into during the current session. We understand perfectly well why it takes so long,” he stated.
