MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) - Belarus supports Russia's steps to create a system of mutual settlements within BRICS, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti, BelTA learned.
"It's time to have a couple of mechanisms for mutual settlements that would be beyond the control of the collective West," the minister said.
He stressed that the sanctions policy is not about "some kind of democracy”. "These are all tools of unfair competition that do not correspond to the spirit of international organizations such as the UN or the WTO. These are the mechanisms to restrain the development of others and to ensure the dominance of the West,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.

Belarus, in particular, welcomes the steps taken by the Russian Federation to create such a system within the framework of BRICS, he noted.
"Two or three such systems will largely curb the appetites of the West. This will allow us to feel confident about the trade with each other, as it will not depend on political trends (interests of some oligarchic circles in the West)," the minister concluded.
