MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) - The goal is to make the Union State product brand sought-after internationally as well, Ella Selitskaya, Deputy State Secretary and member of the Union State Standing Committee, said at the Retail Days in Minsk forum during Belarusian Agro Industrial Week on 2 June, BelTA has learned.
“The total volume of mutual trade within the Union State at the end of 2025 reached $62 billion, 6% higher than at the end of 2024. We see significant investment potential. We see how Russian investment in Belarus is growing and how industrial cooperation chains are being established. Today, around 10,000 organizations within the Union State are linked through cooperation chains for the supply of raw materials and product components,” Ella Selitskaya said.

Work is currently underway to
assess manufacturer interest in the Union State product labeling. “For
now, this is primarily an image-building project. Our task is to launch
it and ensure it is truly in demand not only in the domestic market of
the Union State but also internationally,” Ella Selitskaya said.

According to her, active work is underway to protect the market from
counterfeit products. “In February, meetings were held at the level of
the Supreme State Council in Moscow, where a decision was made to set up
a Union State Standardization and Quality Committee, which would
directly carry out these functions. Additionally, this year, regulatory
legal provisions were put in place to establish the status of Union
State product. Our task now is to try to launch the Union State product
brand among manufacturers in our countries - not only through the
efforts of the Standing Committee but also with representatives of
regulatory bodies from both nations. All the regulatory framework has
been adopted - Resolution No. 4 of the Union State Council of Ministers
dated 2 February 2026 ‘On granting the status of the Union State product
to products of Belarusian and Russian manufacturers. This resolution
defines the criteria applied to the term and identifies the bodies that
will issue opinions on the cooperation component and verification. The
Standing Committee will then maintain the official register of Union
State products,” she explained.

The
event brought together representatives of traditional retail, retail
chains and marketplaces, distributors, manufacturers, and industry
experts from Belarus, Russia, and other CIS countries.
