MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) - Belarus' GDP is growing at a rate higher than the world average, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry of Belarus.
"As previously reported by the National Statistical Committee, the GDP rose by 4.9% in January-May. It was significantly higher than the forecast and the world average. The industry is the main contrinuotr to the growth, with an increase of 7.1%. We ramped up the production of cars, trucks, buses, rail cars, motorcycles, optical devices, radio navigation equipment," the Economy Ministry said.
Agriculture also shows good results (up by 7.2%). The production of grain, vegetables, eggs, meat and milk has been on the rise. Construction holds a confident position among the growth drivers woth a 9% growth. Trade and transport have been expanding steadily too.
Capital investments are going full speed ahead, with a 7.1% growth in Janaury-August. The share of expenses to purchase machinery and equipment has come close to 40%. Enterprises are confidently planning their further development, continue to invest in modernization, the Economy Ministry said.
Exports of goods and services continue to recover steadily. In January-July 2024, the growth rate accelerated to 4.5%. Shipments to friendly countries increased by 4.3%, to Asian countries - by 10.8%, Africa - by 4 times.
The stable operation of the economy makes it possible to ensure outstripping growth in real disposable incomes of households which went up by 9.9% in January-July 2024.
