MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) - Trade, economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and China is gaining momentum, Belarusina Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
Mutual trade has risen to a record high over the last decade, but there are opportunities to increase it and expand the commodity nomenclature, Yuri Chebotar noted during the talks. “Belarus is China's most important partner in terms of high-quality agricultural and food products. We are interested in purchasing technological equipment and spare parts from China, supplying Belarusian machinery, establishing joint ventures,” he said.
Belaurs and China signed an agreement on trade in services and investment, a historic document, in August 2024. It is expected to result in a significant increase in exports of Belarusian services to the PRC and Chinese investments in Belarus. Comfortable conditions for this are offered in the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone. It runs five clusters: machine and machine tool building, telecommunications, medicine and logistics. The task of tomorrow is to launch the production of new pharmaceutical goods, medical equipment.
“It is in our power to implement all these and many other promising plans, to raise the trade and economic interregional interaction to a new level, to bring a new content tp the all-weather all-round strategic partnership between Belarus and China,” the Belarusian minister said.
