Delegation of Russia's Murmansk Oblast to visit Minsk on 5-6 June

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – A delegation of Russia's Murmansk Oblast is expected to visit Minsk on 5-6 June, the press service of the Minsk City Executive Committee told BelTA.

While in Belarus the Russian delegation will visit the free economic zone Minsk, the mechanical engineering companies BelAZ, Belkommunmash, MAZ, and MTZ. The second session of the working group on Belarus-Murmansk Oblast cooperation will be an important part of the visit.

The Russian delegation will also visit the 28th international agricultural expo Belagro 2018. The sides are expected to discuss ways to increase mutual trade, expand the choice of exports and imports as well as cooperation in humanitarian affairs.

The delegation is led by Murmansk Oblast First Vice Governor Aleksei Tyukavin. The delegation includes ministers responsible for overseeing economic development, industry and entrepreneurship, transport and road infrastructure, representatives of the Economic Development Committee of the Murmansk city administration, representatives of various Murmansk Oblast companies, and the rector of the Murmansk Arctic State University.

According to the Embassy of Belarus in Russia, in 2017 Belarus' trade with Murmansk Oblast totaled $123.1 million, 13.5% up from 2016. Belarus' export rose by 15% to $12.8 million, with import up by 13.4% to $110.3 million. The foreign trade deficit amounted to $97.5 million.
