Corn planted on nearly 90% of designated area in Belarus

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – Belarusian agricultural workers have planted corn on nearly 90% of the target area, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were planted on the area of 2,176,200 hectares, which is 92% of the plan. Buckwheat was planted on 26,7 00 hectares (77%), millet on 7,880 hectares (79.2%). Spring rapeseed was planted on the area of 49,100 hectares, which is 79.7% of the target.

Corn was planted on 1,102,000 hectares (89.9%), including corn for silage (86.1%), potatoes on 16,200 hectares (97%), vegetables on 4,360 hectares (86.8%). The planting of flax, sugar beet, and early crops has been completed.

Annual grasses were planted on 191,600 hectares, which is 78.4% of the plan. First grass was cut on the area of 329,400 hectares, which is 23.4% of the plan.
