MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan toured the BelGee enterprise on 21 February. The ambassador emphasized that the enterprise is an example of successful cooperation between Belarus and China and expressed confidence that this cooperation should be deepened, BelTA learned from the enterprise’s press service.
During the visit, BelGee Director General Gennady Svidersky briefed the ambassador on the further plans of the enterprise and showed him all the stages of the car manufacturing process: from receiving components to shipping finished products to dealers. According to the director, nowadays there is a high demand for Belarusian cars both inside the country and in Russia. “Our cars are in demand. We sold over 90,000 vehicles in 2024. After the completion of production modernization, the production capacity will increase to 120,000 cars per year,” Gennady Svidersky said.

Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan visited the welding, painting and assembly shops to study the production processes and technologies. In the welding shop, the ambassador learned about the operation of modern robotic systems that ensure high accuracy and quality of welding seams. In the painting shop, he examined a multi-stage car painting process, which includes application of primer, base coat and protective varnish. In the assembly shop, he observed the assembly process, during which all components, including engines, transmissions and electronic systems, are assembled.

Following the visit, Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan praised the high expertise of the BelGee team and emphasized that the enterprise is a shining example of successful Belarus-China cooperation. He believes that the two countries need to enhance and deepen this cooperation in the future.

In turn, Gennady Svidersky stressed the importance of attracting other Chinese companies to the project in order to increase production localization. He added that Belarus will provide comprehensive support to implement this project.

Before visiting the workshops, a group photo was taken near the landmark Friendship Tree. It was planted by representatives of the two countries during the enterprise's construction in 2015.
