BREST, 2 February (BelTA) – The Brest Oblast Executive Committee will financially support local enterprises, which participate in international specialized expos, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the Economy Committee, Head of the Foreign Economic Ties Office of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Sergei Telezhinsky.
About 25 local companies have declared their intention to participate in specialized expos and fairs abroad in 2022. Each of them can count on a compensation of up to 50% of the organizational costs at the expense of the Brest Oblast budget. There are plans to allocate a total of Br250,000 for this purpose. The compensation can be claimed once per year. Only local companies and organizations without departmental affiliation are eligible.
The compensation is a possibility stipulated by Belarus president decree No.412 on export promotion. The decree enabled additional conditions for promoting Belarusian products to foreign markets. “We've polled our manufacturers. They put forward proposals concerning the foreign expos they would like to visit. I think such financial support can be a good stimulus for many enterprises,” Sergei Telezhinsky said.
Taking into account preferences of the manufacturers, the Brest Oblast Executive Committee has compiled a list of international expos and fairs, which participants can claim the compensation in 2022. The document was published by the national legal information registry on 2 February. The list includes over 15 expos in Russia, Germany, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, and China.
Brest Oblast's export growth rate totaled 122.8% in 2021. As much as $3.2 billion worth of merchandise was exported, with the foreign trade surplus at $1.1 billion.
