MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarusian light industry products are available in nearly 80 countries, Natalia Moroz, Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian state concern for production and sale of light industry goods Bellegprom (Bellegprom Concern), said at a press conference, BelTA reports.

In Belarus, approximately 2,000 companies are engaged in the production of light industry goods, Natalia Moroz emphasized. “The largest of them are part of Bellegprom Concern. The concern also sets the direction for the development of the country’s light industry sector. It produces not only clothing and footwear, but also semi-raw materials: fabrics, yarn, and leather,” she explained.

According to the deputy chairperson of Bellegprom Concern, the light industry, like the country’s economy as a whole, is export-oriented. “About 70% of our production is exported to nearly 80 countries. Historically, Russia has been our primary market. This is due to similar taste preferences, duty-free trade, and low-cost logistics. We also supply products to other countries of the former USSR and beyond (Asia, Africa, and Latin America). Belarusian flax is our most popular export. Our largest enterprise, Orsha Linen Mill, produces fabrics used in more than just home textiles. Other companies use this fabric to make clothing, which is also popular abroad,” noted Natalia Moroz.
