MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) - According to preliminary results, Belarusian Railways transported more than one million containers in TEU (twenty-foot equivalent) in 2023, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Railways press service.
Expansion of export transportation and promotion of Belarusian products to foreign markets are the most important strategic areas of the Belarusian Railway activity. Last year, the focus was on the creation of necessary conditions to increase export shipments of Belarusian enterprises' products in containers.
Thanks to effective cooperation between Belarusian Railways and shippers, consignees, transportation and logistics companies and railway administrations, the total volume of export transportation of cargo in containers increased by more than 60% year-on-year.
Container transportation to China is one of the priority areas for the supply of domestic products for export. According to operational data, Belarusian shippers loaded and shipped more than 1,500 container trains to the People's Republic of China, which is 50% more than last year.
Belarusian Railways thanks its customers and partners for joint work in 2023 and looks forward to further mutually beneficial cooperation.
