GOMEL, 10 March (BelTA) – Specialists of the Well Construction Management Center of the oil and gas extraction division Rechitsaneft of Belorusneft Company and AO Service Oil Ecuador Ecuaservoil S.A. have set a national record, Belorusneft representatives told BelTA.
The specialists have successfully finished building well No.010R1 in the Armadillo field (Block 55) in the Republic of Ecuador.
“An 8.5-inch diameter lateral hole was drilled to a total length of 5,494.7 feet in one section and a 7-inch diameter production liner with a total length of 5,671.91 feet was run. The national record was certified by the international organization Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Ecuador Section,” the company emphasized.
The introduction of advanced Belarusian drilling technologies as well as the coordinated work of contractors and competent technological and geological solutions at every stage played a significant role in achieving this milestone. The use of digital solutions was particularly important for setting the national record. It enabled round-the-clock remote monitoring, assessment, and operational adjustment of drilling modes in online mode.
Belorusneft Director General Aleksandr Lyakhov stressed that the company successfully cooperates with state-owned enterprises in Ecuador’s territory. “First of all, I am talking about the state-owned company Petroecuador. We strive to ensure that this project, which was once initiated by our head of state Aleksandr Lukashenko, continues developing. It is important not only to achieve productive results in oil and gas extraction and economic benefits, but also to create conditions for technology transfer between our country and Latin American countries,” he stressed.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in exploration, prospecting, and development of oil fields, well drilling, extraction of oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, and operates in the oil industry in other countries.
