Belarusian FEZs report record-high volume of declared investments in new projects

MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – In H1 2022 15 new enterprises joined the ranks of the companies residing in free economic zones. The volume of their declared investments stands at $141 million. The new resident companies intend to create 760 jobs, the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, it is a record-high volume of declared investments in new projects in the last three years. The largest projects include the organization of manufacturing in Brest District (establishment of a greenhouse farming enterprise and the construction of a facility to make extruded aluminum shapes), Svisloch District (construction of a container terminal), and Polotsk District (the creation of a facility to make wooden fuel granules and the construction of a hot galvanizing plant).

The growth of the number of resident companies is fueled by incessant work of the administrations of the free economic zones to find new investors. Regular presentations of opportunities available in Belarusian FEZs are organized at international conferences and expos. Apart from that, in April 2022 the government decided to expand the territory of Belarusian FEZs for the sake of implementing significant investment projects.
