MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) - On the New Year's eve Belarusian Cement Company implemented a pilot project to deliver cement to Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast in new containers, BelTA has learned from Belarusian Cement Company (BCC).

According to BCC Director General Aleksandr Dovgalo, this is a joint project of Belarusian Cement Company and the government of Kaliningrad Oblast to increase the volume and reduce the cost of cement deliveries to this region of Russia.

The cement was delivered to Kaliningrad Oblast in a new type of packaging, namely flexible bulk container MK-14-1. Belarusian Cement Company became the first company from Belarus and Russia to use this type of packaging when delivering goods to this Russian region, BCC said.

Andrei Limarov, Head of Logistics at Belarusian Cement Company, added that cement was previously delivered to Kaliningrad Oblast in big bags of up to 1 tonne. The new container can hold about 14 tonnes of cement. It is simpler to reload and can be stored in open air for up to 3 months.

“This method of cement delivery to Kaliningrad has never been used before, making Belarusian Cement Company a pioneer in this field,” Andrei Limarov said.
