Belarus, Uzbekistan discussing ways to advance cooperation in pharmaceutics

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Representatives of the pharmaceutical industries of Belarus and Uzbekistan are discussing ways to advance cooperation, the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry press service told BelTA.

A Belarusian government delegation led by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko is in Uzbekistan right now. The delegation includes Deputy Healthcare Minister Boris Androsyuk and representatives of the managing company of the holding company Belpharmprom and pharmaceutical enterprises of the holding company.

Boris Androsyuk and First Deputy Director General of the managing company of the holding company Belpharmprom Piotr Vorobyov met with Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency of Uzbekistan Sardor Kariyev. Ways to advance cooperation in the joint production of medications were discussed.

Boris Androsyuk also visited the Belarusian-Uzbek manufacturer of medications Belpharm where a project to make antibiotics is being implemented. The project is stipulated by the action plan on advancing Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation.

On 25 April the Belarusian deputy healthcare minister also met with Uzbek Deputy Healthcare Minister Otabek Fazilkarimov. The sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the sphere of medical goods and pharmaceutical drugs.

At present enterprises of the Belarusian holding company Belpharmprom have 166 medication registration certificates in Uzbekistan. Belpharmprom enterprises have signed 12 contracts on supplies of medications with Uzbek partners. In 2021 Belpharmprom's export to Uzbekistan totaled $14 million. The figure amounted to $3 million in January-February 2022.
