Belarus to participate in construction of poultry farm in Mozambique

MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Belarus will participate in the construction of a poultry farm, a vegetable storehouse and greenhouses in Mozambique, Alexei Bogdanov, the head of the main division for foreign economic affairs at the Agriculture and Food Ministry, told reporters after the opening ceremony of the international food industry expo and fair Prodexpo 2016 in Minsk on 8 November, BelTA has learned.

“We work continuously with the distant arc countries. A delegation of the Agriculture and Food Ministry has recently visited two African countries, Mozambique and South Africa. We are currently in talks over possible supplies of dried milk products, frozen poultry meat and beef. Besides, we are considering projects to establish joint ventures. For instance, we are in talks over joint projects to build a poultry farm, a vegetable storehouse, and greenhouses for growing vegetables,” Alexei Bogdanov said.

He noted that plans have been made to use Belarusian technologies in the construction of the facilities in Mozambique. “It is possible that we will invest in the project, but the bulk of money will be provided by Mozambique and South Africa. This is a promising project,” Alexei Bogdanov stressed.

Some 220 exhibitors from ten countries, including Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Greece, Syria, Moldova, Georgia and Italy have gathered in Minsk to take part in the 22nd international food industry expo and fair Prodexpo 2016. The forum will run through 11 November.

Prodexpo 2016 is organized with the support of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry, the Belarusian food industry concern Belgospishcheprom, Minsk City Hall, and the Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies (Belkoopsoyuz).
