Belarus seeks to set up industrial joint ventures in Oman, eyes third markets

MUSCAT, 15 December (BelTA) - Belarus seeks to set up industrial joint ventures in Oman, with an eye on third markets, Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov told the media on the sidelines of the working visit of the Belarusian president to Oman, BelTA learned.

“The current visit to the Sultanate of Oman is part of the strategy to diversify exports. So far, unfortunately, the trade in industrial goods between Belarus and Oman is modest and does not match the high level of political relations between our countries. At the same time, we see great potential in working with this state,” the minister said.

According to him, Oman is interested in supplies of Belarusian industrial products, first of all, engineering goods such as passenger, cargo, road-building, and utility vehicles. They are also interested in supplies of agricultural machines and technologies, and show interest in tractor construction.

Aleksandr Yefimov emphasized the prospects for further deliveries to third countries. “Oman has good port facilities, logistics infrastructure, and offers our country to organize certain joint manufactures in order to supply products manufactured in Oman to the markets of third countries. First of all, the Middle East, the African region and so on. Therefore, we estimate the future potential for the development of our relationship and, accordingly, the growth of trade as quite promising,” the minister said.

He said that a memorandum of cooperation will be signed with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman during the visit.

“We have already agreed to draw up a specific roadmap of feasible projects to be implemented by our side in the Sultanate of Oman. Thus, we have agreed that we will have the first successful projects and demonstrate success in our cooperation already by the third quarter of 2025,” Aleksandr Yefimov said.
