Belarus, Russia’s Ulyanovsk Oblast sketch out new projects in aircraft engineering, microelectronics

MOSCOW, 16 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Ulyanovsk Oblast have sketched out new projects in aircraft engineering and microelectronics. Ulyanovsk Oblast Governor Alexei Russkikh mentioned it after negotiations with a Belarusian delegation led by Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik, BelTA has learned.

Alexei Russkikh said: “We’ve signed a plan on cooperation between our region and the Republic of Belarus in 2025 and 2026. We’ve seen good growth rates this year. Trade turnover increased by 17%. We sketched out new agreements. For instance, with Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No.407, Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant and 558 Aircraft Repair Plant. The expansion of cooperation in aircraft engineering will help make more IL-76MD-90A aircraft and components for MC-21 jets.”

In his words, the parties are preparing an agreement on long-term cooperation in microelectronics. “Including for the sake of buying components for instrument-making enterprises of the region from Belarus. On the whole, our manufacturing cooperation focuses on high-tech economy branches,” Alexei Russkikh noted.

“We’ve discussed further development of joint production of long-haul trucks powered by Belarusian MAZ road tractors and featuring Akro trailers from Ulyanovsk Oblast. Investments in the project will exceed RUB700 million. The enterprise is based in Ulyanovsk. We intend to build a manufacturing and warehousing complex in the future. We will expand interaction in the sphere of agriculture. I’ve given instructions to replicate practices of Belarusian colleagues in the region. Primarily seed production practices,” the Ulyanovsk Oblast governor added.
