MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Supplies of Belarusian meat and dairy products to Russia’s Altai Territory and purchases of grain and seeds for Belarus’ agricultural sector have been identified as the main areas of cooperation in electronic exchange trade during a meeting between representatives of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and a delegation of business circles from Russia’s Altai Territory, held in Minsk with the assistance of the Russian trade mission in Belarus, the BUCE press service told BelTA.
According to the participants, the priority is to increase the export of Belarusian butter to Altai Territory, which is already being purchased through BUCE by one of the largest dairy producers in the region. “The export price index for butter has fallen by nearly 2.5% in the past month, boosting its competitiveness on the Russian market. This downward trend is expected to increase the actual procurement volumes of butter by traders from Altai Territory on the exchange. In addition, supplies of Belarusian dry milk to the region are planned, as it is one of the most popular commodity items among Russian users of the exchange platform. This product group accounted for 37% of all exchange exports of domestic dairy products in January-September 2025,” the BUCE press service said.
As for imports from Altai Territory, the focus is on barley and rapeseeds, which are abundant in the region. The possibility of their sale on BUCE for the domestic market is under consideration. The exchange reports that demand from Belarusian traders for grains and seeds has been stably high for years, ensuring a reliable distribution channel for foreign suppliers. Thus, compared to January-September 2024, the total value of exchange transactions for these two commodity categories increased by 5%, reaching Br329 million.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
