Belarus, Russia to strengthen cooperation in import substitution

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The Industry Ministry of Belarus and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation have plans to strengthen cooperation in a range of areas, BelTA learned from spokesman of the Belarusian Industry Ministry Oleg Slepchenko.

On 20 April, the Industry Ministry hosted a meeting between Belarusian Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik and Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexander Morozov. The Russian delegation included KAMAZ Director General Sergei Kogogin, and the deputy minister aides. Attending the meeting on Belarus' behalf were representatives of MAZ, MMZ, BATE, Horizont and BelOMO. The parties discussed the most important issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. They also confirmed their mutual interest in deepening cooperation in various fields, namely in the manufacturing of automotive components, units, aggregates, and microelectronics used in the production of trucks and passenger vehicles of the two countries.

During the visit to Belarus, the Russian delegation visited Minsk Automobile Plant to take part in a meeting on international cooperation and also the Great Stone Industrial Park to get familiar with new engineering solutions and the park's range of products.
