MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - Over the past three years, Belarus and Russia have increased trade by almost 30%, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said during a meeting of the High-Level Group of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 4 December, BelTA has learned.

“We are holding our meeting in the run up to a significant date for all of us: the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State. During this time, we have built coordinated cooperation across all areas. Work continues on implementing our integration document: the Union State guidelines for 2024-2026. Out of the 310 measures planned, 115 have already been completed, which is nearly 40%. We are expanding trade and economic cooperation, and over the past three years our trade has grown by almost 30%,” Alexey Overchuk said.

According to him, almost all settlements between Belarus and Russia are carried out in national currencies. “Our countries maintain a high intensity of contacts at the regional level. This format allows us to find new points of convergence for further cooperation,” he noted.

The depity premier cited the major investment project to build the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant as a vivid example of successful Belarus-Russia cooperation. Cooperation is also developing in industry, standardization, infrastructure, and protecting the market from low-quality products.

The meeting of the High-Level Group of the Council of Ministers is also set to review the matter of granting products of Russian and Belarusian enterprises the status of Union State goods.
