Belarus, Poland agree on new program of cooperation

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Belarus and Poland have agreed on a new program of cooperation, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told the meida on the margins of the 22nd Belarusian-Polish economic forum Good Neighborliness in Minsk on 7 June, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of the upper house of parliament, the program was suggested by the Polish Senate marshal and the marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. The program will address not only issues of cross-border projects but also educational, commercial ones. “I think the prospects are good. We will definitely see the growth in trade, human contacts and youth projects,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

He recalled that the Belarus-Russia programs, including cross-border cooperation programs, are on track to be complete in 2020. “In fact these are the programs of the European Union, Belarus and Ukraine. We agreed to start preparing a new program post 2021 this year,” the speaker said. It is expected to run through 2027. Mikhail Myasnikovich expressed the hope that the program will be more intensive than the previous ones.

The chairman of the Council of the Republic praised good organization of the forum and emphasized big interest in it from Polish and Belarusian businessmen. “This demonstrates that the interest in mutual trade, investment, scientific and educational activities has been steadily increasing,” he said.

The Belarusian-Polish economic forum Good Neighborliness is held for the 22nd time. Taking part in the forum are more than 500 businessmen from Belarus and Poland. The forum features a plenary session to discuss trade and economic cooperation, three sections (Interregional Cooperation and Development; Logistics Services. Creating an Enabling Environment; Information Technology), and also a business matchmaking session.
