Belarus plants about 500,000 trees, shrubs in January-August 2024

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) — Nearly 500,000 trees and shrubs were planted in Belarus in January-August 2024, Belarusian First Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Aleksandr Korbut said at a press conference titled "Greening of Belarus: Ecological potential of urban landscapes and roadside facilities", BelTA has learned.

"Within the framework of the national action plan to tidy up the land, more than 200,000 trees and 299,000 shrubs, including about 14,000 trees and 35,000 shrubs along national highways, 4,000 trees and nearly 2,000 shrubs along local highways, were already planted in January-August 2024," Aleksandr Korbut said.

"This dry year has shown the importance of plants’ care. We call on citizens to assist in watering plants," he stated.
