MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Belarus is eager to increase supplies of food products to Saudi Arabia, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko said as he met with Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Belarus Abdulrahman Bin Suleiman Al Ahmed on 15 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agricultural and Food Ministry.
The parties discussed the state of cooperation and prospects for strengthening the bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries. “We would like to continue increasing supplies of high-quality Belarusian food products to Saudi Arabia. Belarus is ready to export dairy products: butter, cheese, skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder as well as meat products (beef and poultry) that comply with Halal requirements,” Ivan Krupko noted.
Belarus intends to continue working with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority to certify the Belarusian dairy factories and meat processing enterprises to export their products to Saudi Arabia.
In 2020, Belarus' export of agricultural and food products to Saudi Arabia amounted to $6.2 million, soaring 3.1 times over 2019. Belarus' major exports were skimmed milk powder, milk whey, jams, fruit purees, and eggs. In January-March 2021, Belarus' exported $1.7 million worth of such products to Saudi Arabia, which was up by 24.3% year-on-year.
