GOMEL, 22 May (BelTA) – The main growth points for enterprises under the Industry Ministry of Belarus were outlined on the sidelines of the 20th Gomel Economic Forum by Industry Minister Andrei Kuznetsov, BelTA reports.
Speaking about the key tasks facing enterprises, Andrei Kuznetsov noted: “First and foremost is modernization. But modernization not for its own sake, but for economic gain. That means a lower production cost of the final product and better quality.”
Another important task is import substitution. “We still have work to do. The head of state set a goal to develop hydraulic systems. We have an enterprise in Gomel working on this. We are now acquiring competencies we did not possess before. The task has been set to bring this to fruition by 2030, so that we can confidently say we are a technologically independent country,” Andrei Kuznetsov emphasized.
Among other important areas, he named robotics and the automation of manufacturing processes. “All of this has an impact on the cost and quality of our final product,” the minister stressed.
“Digitization is also key, it is needed to optimize manufacturing processes and not only those, but also accounting and economic operations, which will give a certain boost to our industry,” he added.
“The tasks have been set, the team is in place. We see the goals, and we are moving forward,” Andrei Kuznetsov concluded.
