Belarus' industrial output shrinks by 2.2% in January-August 2020

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – In January-August 2020, Belarus' industrial output totaled Br72.8 billion in current prices, which made up 97.8% in comparable prices as against the same period of 2019, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

Industrial output inched down by 1.8% in the mining industry, 2.2% in the processing industry, and by 0.6% in the industry providing water supply, waste collection, processing, and treatment, pollution cleanup. The production of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and conditioned air dropped by 3.5%.

In August 2020, the industrial output index came at 101.8% as against July 2020.

In January-August 2020, industrial output of staple pharmaceutical products and preparations grew by 11.7% in comparable prices year-on-year. Output of wood and paper, printed products went up by 15.4%, food products, drinks and tobacco products – by 4.5%, transport vehicles and equipment – by 0.3%.
