Belarus harvests over 6.2m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – As of 22 August Belarus harvested more than 6.2 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Grain and leguminous plants (except for maize) were cropped from over 1.9 million hectares, which is 92.8% of the total cropping area.

The average yield is 31.4 centners per hectare (26.4 centners per hectare in 2018)

Minsk Oblast has produced over 1.6 million tonnes of grain cutting 95.4% of its cropping areas. Brest Oblast's harvest is 99.3% complete (almost 1.2 million tonnes of grain). Grodno Oblast harvested 97.7% of its areas (over 1.17 million tonnes of grain). Vitebsk Oblast has cut 76.6% of its areas to produce 817,000 tonnes of grain. Harvest in Gomel Oblast is 93.7% complete (over 654,000 tonnes of grain). Mogilev Oblast has harvested 93.4% of its areas, making over 732,000 tonnes of grain.

The procurement order on grain is 815,000 tonnes this year. The order is 85.71% (698,300 tonnes) complete.
