
MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) - Over 9.9 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed and corn, have been harvested in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 22 October, some 9,923,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed and corn, were cropped in Belarus.
The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast – 2.453 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 1.974 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 1.937 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 1.309 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 1.209 million tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 1.041 million tonnes.
Belarus has harvested 91% of areas planted to grain and leguminous crops, including corn, which makes up 2,119,000 hectares. Average grain yield is 4.9 centners per hectare higher than last year’s level. Some 684,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 98% of the target. The harvest of flax straw totals 185,000 tonnes, with a yield that is 12.9 centners per hectare higher than the previous year.
Corn for silage and green fodder has been harvested from 85% of the area, which is 863,000 hectares. So far Belarus has harvested 13.788 million tonnes of haylage (99% of the plan), 17.368 million tonnes of silage (84% of the plan) and 8.957 million tonnes of grass forage units (89% of the plan).
Sugar beet has been harvested from 72% of the area. The harvest has yielded 3,672,000 tonnes of sugar beet. The yield is 37.7 centners per hectare higher than last year.
The potato harvest has reached 663,000 tonnes, which is 127,000 tonnes more than at the same date last year. The yield is also higher than last year's.
Nationwide, 151,000 tonnes of open-field vegetables have been harvested. The total sown area exceeds 8,000 hectares, with 79% of it cropped now.
Autumn ploughing has been carried out on 278,000 hectares, representing 19% of the target area of 1.432 million hectares.
