Belarus' efforts to ensure food security praised

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Belarus has taken the necessary steps to ensure food security, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Rusakovich told the STV TV channel, BelTA informs.

“The agricultural market and food security are the areas where our efforts have born fruit,” Andrei Rusakovich said.

He noted that Eurasia's best practices deserve to be considered and scaled up in other integration structures.

Speaking about the sanctions, the senator noted that the sanctions were introduced against Belarus quite a long time ago. “The question is whether Belarus and the Union State are capable of operating amidst global competition. There are areas where we can do this well, but there are areas where we need to work really hard,” he said.

According to Andrei Rusakovich, “the sanctions, unilateral restrictive measures do not contribute to interaction, trade that the liberal West advocates.” “Nevertheless, it is necessary to work in the given conditions,” he concluded.
