MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) — Belarus and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China outlined new opportunities for deepening interregional cooperation, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said at a meeting with Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China He Zhongyou in Minsk on 19 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
"Belarus shares a long-standing friendship and partnership with the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. We closely follow the robust development of the region and actively participate in the China-Eurasia Expo, the key exhibition event of the region," the deputy minister said.
It was emphasized that Belarus is interested in increasing supplies of foodstuffs, wood, mechanical engineering and chemical products and fertilizers to the region.
According to Alesya Abramenko, considering the specialization and powerful agricultural potential of the Chinese region, Belarus is ready to cooperate with the companies of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and set up joint enterprises to produce agricultural goods and machinery, chemicals and energy.
"The Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone, which is one of the most important projects of the Belt and Road initiative, offers the most favorable conditions in terms of benefits and preferences and the necessary infrastructure for joint investment projects and initiatives," she summarized.
