MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) - Belarus and China have agreed to launch joint pilot projects that aim to create joint production facilities based on scientific research, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Sergei Shlychkov told BelTA.
"We have reached an agreement with our colleagues from the Chinese Science and Technology Ministry to launch pilot projects. These projects will involve both joint scientific research and development, and the establishment of production facilities based on the results of this work. In fact, we have already selected three projects: a Belshina project focused on heavy-duty tires, an initiative to introduce advanced road infrastructure technologies by the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry, and a project in materials science,” Sergei Shlychkov said.
Providing further details on the first project, he explained that manufacturing heavy-duty tires requires not only specialized materials for the tire itself but also a reinforced structure. "To fully meet the needs of BelAZ, especially for models with the highest load capacity, we lack certain competencies. We are cooperating with our Chinese partners on this joint project to complement each other's expertise," he emphasized.
Belarus and China have repeatedly announced joint scientific and technological project competitions. "The focus is on the most in-demand, promising, and priority areas. This includes everything related to digital advancements: artificial intelligence, machine vision, and robotics. These technologies are also being applied across other industries. For example, the digitalization of mechanical engineering is currently a major trend. There are many fascinating projects in the healthcare sector as well. Typically, the results of these scientific studies, whether they involve methodologies or equipment, are implemented both in Belarus and China," Sergei Shlychkov stressed.
As it was previously reported, the years 2024 and 2025 have been declared the Years of Cooperation between Belarus and China in Science, Technology and Innovation.
