
MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) - Kazakhstan is one of Belarus' major trading partners, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Timur Zhaksylykov told the media following the meeting with Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova on 27 February, BelTA has learned.
“Our meeting addressed a wide range of matters. First of all, we discussed our interparliamentary cooperation, which is gaining momentum and reaching new heights. We also touched upon our trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Kazakhstan is one of Belarus' major trading partners. Our trade totals around $1 billion,” the ambassador said. “Kazakhstan and Belarus enjoy active investment cooperation. About 14 significant investment and cooperation projects are currently underway in Kazakhstan. Almost all of them relate to mechanical engineering. We also expect to see new projects in agriculture, biotechnology, construction materials manufacturing and in many other areas.”
About 1,000 companies with Belarusian capital operate in Kazakhstan, and their number is growing every year, Ambassador Timur Zhaksylykov stated. “Quite large investors from Kazakhstan are also actively working in Belarus. We believe that the pace we gained will get a new impetus and that new projects will be successfully implemented,” he added.
