Almost 1.5m tonnes of grain and rapeseed harvested in Belarus

MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Almost 1.5 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been harvested in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 14 July, 1.495 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed) was harvested, which includes 1.050 million tonnes of cereals and leguminous crops and 445,000 tonnes of winter rapeseed.

The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast harvested 408,800 tonnes, Minsk Oblast 360,300 tonnes, Grodno Oblast 316,500 tonnes, Gomel Oblast 221,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast 135,000 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast 53,400 tonnes.

Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast have already completed harvesting winter barley.

Meanwhile, flax was pulled from 11,800 hectares, which is 26.4% of the area under this crop. Straw left after harvesting cereals and leguminous crops was removed from 54.3% of the designated area.

A total of 3.090 million tonnes of grass feed was harvested (31.5% of the plan).

Farmers are stepping up efforts to apply organic fertilizers. All in all, 10.9 million tonnes of fertilizers were placed on the fields in the run-up to sowing winter crops, 1.73 million tonnes (13.8%) of fertilizers have already been applied.
