MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 4 started with a women's 7.5-kilometer sprint event in Oberhof, Germany on 4 January, BelTA has learned.
Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia won the sprint with one penalty in 22:23.7. She was 35.4 seconds ahead of Kaisa Makarainen of Finland and 40.1 second in front of Czech Veronika Vitkova, with both of them also missing one target.
Three-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva came in seventh, 1:07.9 back, with two misses. Irina Krivko finished 17th, with one penalty and 1:07.9 off the pace. Nadezhda Skardino was 35th with one penalty, 1:54.0 back. Nadezhda Pisareva came in 61st (two penalties, 2:46.0 back). Dinara Alimbekova was 63rd (two penalties, 2:49.1 back). All in all, 92 biathletes finished the race.
The men's 10km sprint event with two shooting bouts will take place on 5 January. The women's 10km pursuit and men's 12.5km pursuit competitions are due on 6 January. The women's 4x6km and men's 4x7.5km relays are scheduled for 7 January.
