MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are set to sign an intergovernmental agreement on the rules of entry of foreign nationals and stateless persons attending international sport events. The document will be signed during a working visit of Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov to Belarus on 28-29 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As BelTA reported earlier, the agreement has been developed ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup to regulate the entry and stay of foreign fans in the Belarus-Russia Union State.
Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei. According to Maria Zakharova, the Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers are expected to share opinions on the development of cooperation in the Union State, the EAEU, the CSTO, and the CIS, discuss coordination of efforts in the OSCE and other international formats, and also other issues of mutual interest.
