MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – The coaching staff of the Belarusian national ice hockey team announced the players who will take part in the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Denmark, BelTA has learned.
The roster includes the following 25 players: goalkeepers – Ivan Kulbakov, Vitaly Trus, Mikhail Karnaukhov; defensemen – Stepan Falkovsky, Vladimir Denisov, Roman Dyukov, Evgeny Lisovets, Kristian Khenkel, Nikita Ustinenko, Pavel Vorobei, Dmitry Korobov; forwards – Pavel Razvadovsky, Sergei Drozd, Artyom Demkov, Geoff Platt, Egor Sharangovich, Alexander Materukhin, Maksim Sushko, Charles Linglet, Alexander Pavlovich, Artyom Levsha, Alexander Kitarov, Artyom Kislyi, Evgeny Kovyrshin, Artur Gavrus.
The Belarusian team will include the following debutants: defenseman Stepan Falkovsky from the American Hockey League (AHL), where he plays for HC Ontario Reign, goaltender Ivan Kulbakov, forwards Artyom Levsha and Maksim Sushko.
Belarus will play in Group A and will open the IIHF World Championship against Sweden in Copenhagen on 4 May. Belarus 1 TV channel will broadcast the game live. At the first stage Belarus will also play France on 5 May, Russia on 7 May, Switzerland on 9 May, the Czech Republic on 11 May, Austria on 12 May and Slovakia on 15 May. The best four teams will advance to the quarterfinal.
