MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Iran will continue their cooperation in the sports sector. The issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed at the meeting held on 11 May between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Mostafa Oveisi and representatives of the Iranian team that is taking part in the World Muay Thai Championships in Minsk, BelTA learned from the diplomatic mission of Iran.
Alexander Medved, a retired freestyle wrestler, a many-time Olympic, world, European and USSR champion, was invited to attend the event as a guest of honor.
The parties noted during the meeting that sport has a huge uniting power and symbolizes peace and friendship. The meeting also highlighted cooperation between the two countries in the organization of summer training camps.
The embassy added that the event would serve as an additional impetus for further cooperation between the two states in the sports sector.
