The European Games in Minsk will not yield to the world's largest sports forums in terms of scale and organization, Acting President of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Janez Kocijancic told the media.
Minsk is in a high degree of preparedness for the Second European Games, Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets told the media after the ceremony to sign a contract on holding the Second European Games in Minsk in 2019.
Several sport disciplines will be held as qualifiers for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. These are badminton, boxing, cycling, canoeing and kayaking, judo, karate, athletics, archery, shooting, and table tennis.
The Minsk Half Marathon will take place on 10 September. All the participants will be invited to a 5.5km, 10km and 21.1km races. The prize money of the event will make up more than $27,000. The winner will get $6,000.
Progress in preparing an expanded-participation session of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus was reviewed. A report on various aspects of preparing Minsk's power supply system for the 2019 European Games was presented.
