SOCHI, 14 May (BelTA) - The World Nuclear Association expects the share of nuclear generation to increase to 25% by 2050, WNA Director General Agneta Rising said at the international nuclear industry forum Atomexpo 2018 in Sochi, BelTA has learned.
“The goal of the Harmony program that we have adopted at the WNA is to provide 25% of electricity through nuclear power by 2050. This will require a lot of work; there will be more nuclear newcomers, the international cooperation will be growing,” said Agneta Rising said. According to her, 55 reactors have been built in the world over the past five years.
This year's Atomexpo's theme is Global Partnership – Joint Success. The three-day business program of the forum will feature over 20 events, including roundtable meetings and presentations. Over 3,000 participants from 70 countries are expected to attend this year's edition of Atomexpo.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant stand demonstrates the transparency and safety of the project. Among the guests of the Forum are Belarus Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko and Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk.
The international nuclear industry forum Atomexpo has been held since 2009 upon the initiative of the Russian state corporation Rosatom. In this period the forum has attracted about 38,000 people from 83 countries. As many as 987 companies have presented their expositions.
