MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – Syrian children, who are staying in the education and rehabilitation center Zubrenok upon the Belarus president's invitation, have visited the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from the Information and Public Relations Department of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.
The guests visited the Belarusian nuclear power plant's information center in Ostrovets where they examined models of the nuclear power plant and nuclear fuel. They learned about safeguards implemented in modern power-generating units and tried generating electricity using cycling machines.
Then the kids went to the construction site of the nuclear power plant where they visited the education and training center of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The kids saw the full-scale simulator of the nuclear power plant control room and learned how a nuclear reactor is controlled.
A number of children have come from Syria to Belarus to stay at the national children education and rehabilitation center Zubrenok on 15-29 January. Recreational events, sport events, cultural and entertainment events have been arranged for them.
