GOMEL, 16 May (BelTA) – University students from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine are taking part in the tenth international championship Youth and Entrepreneurship, which opened in the Belarusian Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperation in Gomel on 16 May, BelTA has learned.
Some 120 people are expected to present their business ideas, educational and social projects over the course of two days.
Chairwoman of the Gomel Oblast Council of Deputies Yekaterina Zenkevich noted that the event grows more and more popular every year. The championship gives space for the development of creative individuality, business initiative, and leadership skills. “It is very important to support young people and their endeavors. Young people have a lot of interesting ideas. The state provides a lot of opportunities for implementing them,” she said.
An exhibition presentation has been arranged to introduce visitors to participants of the championship. For instance, students from the Cheboksary Cooperative Institute had to travel for over 1,300km to participate in the championship. They brought a project designed to teach senior school students basic cooking. Natalya Yegorova, one of the authors of the idea, believes that the project is popular among school students and can generate profits.
A panel of judges will evaluate business ideas during the championship. The judges include representatives of government agencies, the private sector, academic bodies, specialists in the area of management and marketing, representatives of public organizations, state institutions, and international experts.
Participants of the championship will have to defend their projects in three leagues. Each league will produce three winners and a finalist. Apart from that, projects will receive awards as the best IT project, the best innovative project, business activity and initiative, public recognition, the best educational project, and the best business project. Winners will get diplomas, cups, and commemorative gifts.
The championship Youth and Entrepreneurship is an international platform where young people with a a proactive approach to life meet, present themselves and their work for possible employment or seek an investor for their projects. Taking part in the championship are also leading scientists, businessmen, investors, heads of companies, HR specialists, and entrepreneurs. Many ideas presented during previous championships have been implemented.
The championship Youth and Entrepreneurship, the 7th international forum for young scientists, and the seminar Aspects of Development of Youth Entrepreneurship in Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova are part of the International Entrepreneurship Week, which is taking place in the Belarusian Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperation in Gomel.
