Second Music Seasons in France feature young Belarusian pianists

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Young Belarusian pianists Veronika Sakharova Jr. and Vladislav Handogy took part in the Second Belarusian Music Seasons in France, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in France.

The concert on 30 November was organized by the Belarusian Embassy in France in cooperation with the Belarus-France music association La Vie En Musique (Life in Music) headed by Georgy Sosnovsky, a big-name Belarusian musician and composer living in France. The event was organized with support of the Belarusian State Academy of Music and its National Gymnasium-College. The musicians played some works by famous composers Chopin, Ravel, and others.

Another highlight was the inauguration of an exhibition dedicated to three generations of the Gomonov art dynasty: Vladimir, Leonid, and Anna.

Belarusian Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko stressed the importance of Belarus-France cultural relations which promote mutual understanding between the two countries and nations. The ambassador also pointed to the careful attention Belarus pays to young people, including musicians and painters.

The 500th anniversary of the Belarusian and East Slavic book printing is celebrated in 2017 under the aegis of UNESCO. Many events were dedicated to this momentous event across the globe, and France was no exception. During the music evening of 30 November, the guests watched Pershadruk, a documentary of the National Film Studio Belarusfilm on the life and work of Francysk Skaryna. A presentation of a multi-volume facsimile edition of Skaryna's books was held the same evening.

The event drew together members of the French public and the Belarusian diaspora.
