MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Belarusian mass media needs to step up presence in social networks, First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov said at the final board meeting of the Information Ministry on 5 February, BelTA has learned.
Maksim Ryzhenkov urged media outlets to be active, distribute information using all channels, present it in interesting ways and not to imitate each other. Each media resource must represent something special, have a target audience and increase the amount of its own content. This particularly applies to the Belarusian TV channels. It is important for the strengthening of the country's sovereignty, promotion of national values, he said.
Speaking of local press, Maksim Ryzhenkov noted that regional mass media should focus on local life and tell more about working people.
Maksim Ryzhenkov added that it is important to study the situation in the book publishing industry. He suggested working more closely with the Union of Writers of Belarus, seeking and supporting young the authors whose works are relevant and reflect the present day. The same is true about screenplays. Filmmakers are ready to film classics, but it is hard to find good scripts about the contemporary life.
Mass media should work towards the consolidation of the society, provide reliable information to the public. This is an obligatory condition for being present in the media space. Every journalist should feel responsible for the information he publishes. It should be verified and presented correctly, he added.
