MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian reconnaissance and attack unmanned aerial system Burevestnik MB will be showcased during the international air show MAKS 2017 in Russia, the press service of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
The Burevestnik MB product will be showcased as part of the exposition of the enterprise R&D Center for Multifunctional Unmanned Complexes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB). In addition to recon missions the UAV is capable of performing precision strikes. The large drone can carry two smaller drones with combat payload. There are plans to replace the smaller drones with various types of weapons in the future such as 55mm unguided aircraft rockets and a broad variety of special-purpose payload. The Burevestnik MB system is undergoing preliminary trials, which are expected to finish in autumn.
The 13th international air show MAKS 2017 will take place in the airfield of the M. M. Gromov Flight Research Institute in the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Oblast on 18-23 July. As many as 30 countries will be represented during the air show. Over 770 companies intend to showcase their products.
The Belarusian delegation will include representatives of ten organizations run by the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus as well as representatives of Belarusian defense companies. The delegation will be led by the committee's Deputy Chairman Dmitry Pantus. The Belarusian side intends to hold negotiations and meetings with representatives of the federal government, Russian organizations and enterprises, heads of delegations of a number of foreign countries to discuss prospects of future advancement of cooperation in defense contracts and military technology.
The Belarusian collective stand will be organized by BelTechExport. The stand will demonstrate the latest defense technologies and the capability of the Belarusian defense industry to create aerial drones, modern radars, modern radio warfare solutions for fighting unmanned aerial vehicles, and capabilities to upgrade air defense missile systems.
The Belarusian defense companies OAO 558 Aircraft Repair Plant, KB Display, and OAO Integral will arrange stands of their own.
