MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – An Embraer 175 aircraft the Belarusian air carrier Belavia has acquired from the Brazilian company Embraer, has successfully landed at the Minsk National Airport, BelTA has learned.
The aircraft had to cross a distance of 12,000km from the Brazilian city of Sao Jose dos Campos, spending over 16 hours in the air, crossing four climatic zones and six time belts. It spent 25 tonnes of fuel to reach Belarus. An Embraer 175 aircraft is designed to carry 76 passengers (12 ones in business class and 64 ones in economy). The salon guarantees maximum comfort to passengers thanks to the two plus two seat configuration in the economy class and two plus one seat configuration in the business class. The business class compartment has hard screens and increased distance between seats. The new aircraft will perform the first commercial flight on 24 April after all the customs procedures and technical ones are over.
Belavia Director General Anatoly Gusarov noted that Belavia had acquired positive experience of operating these aircraft over the course of more than five years. “The new aircraft are naturally painted in the company's proprietary blue colors just the way Belarusian and foreign clients like,” he added.
The Embraer 175 aircraft was delivered in line with the contract Belavia and the Brazilian aircraft engineering company Embraer signed during the 52nd Paris Air Show in Le Bourget on 20 June 2017. Two Embraer 195 aircraft will be delivered to Minsk in May-June 2018 as part of this shipment. The company bought the aircraft using loans from the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (DBRB) and the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
