MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Belarusian border services shared experience in readmission with counterparts from Macedonia and Albania, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee.
The border services of Belarus paid a visit to Macedonia and Albania. “They got familiar with the infrastructure of highway and aviation checkpoints, visited centers for migrants. The border police of Macedonia and Albania shared their experience in managing the flow of irregular migrants, and also the experience of setting up mobile centers for their placement in the context of the recent migration crisis, which challenged the European countries, especially Macedonia. This country, which turned out to be part of the Balkan migration route on the way to Europe, was one of the first states which had to take operative measures to regulate migration flows,” the State Border Committee informed.
The experience gained during the visit will be adapted and used by the border services of Belarus, and also taken into account as Belarus prepares to sign an agreement on readmission with the EU and develop the corresponding infrastructure.
The visit of the Belarusian border services to Macedonia and Albania was organized by the International Organization for Migration in Belarus as part of the international technical assistance project "Strengthening the Readmission Capacity of the Republic of Belarus".
