MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Belarusian visitors to Israel to the documents confirming the purpose and dates of the visit, spokesman for the Belarusian Minsitry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Mironchik recalled that the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Israel on the abolition of visas for holders of national passports entered into force on 26 November. As a result, citizens of both countries can travel visa free to Israel and Belarus for a visit of up to 90 days within 180 days. Dmitry Mironchik drew the attention that the travel document which is the national passport of the citizen of Belarus must have a validity date of at least six months from the date of entry into Israel.
Dmitry Mironchik noted that in order to ensure security and safety the Israeli migration authorities have been empowered to take decisions to permit or prohibit entry into their country to foreign citizens directly at border crossing points, including on the basis of personal interviews. During this procedure, they clarify the real purpose and dates of a visit.
"In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends citizens of Belarus to clearly explain the nature of their trip (tourist, visitor, business) and specify the dates of their stay in Israel. It should be borne in mind that representatives of the border service may ask for the documentary evidence of the provided information,” said Dmitry Mironchik.
In order to avoid problems the visitors are advised to carry return tickets with a fixed date, an insurance document, funds in sufficient amounts, it may be cash, traveler's cheques or bank cards.
"If a citizen makes a trip for tourism purposes, he may be required the confirmation of hotel reservation, a tourist services contract. If the purpose of the travel is business or visitor, travelers must have the appropriate invitation letter, a photocopy of the passport or identity card of the inviting party, contact telephone number,” said the spokesperson.
He stressed that based on the experience of other states that have similar agreements with Israel, the availability of these documents will contribute to the smooth entry.
