Belarus, Lithuania review prospects for cooperation in medicine, biotechnology

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - Chairman of the Belarusian State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Belarus Andrius Pulokas discussed the prospects for cooperation in science and innovations, including in medicine and medical technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, information and communication technologies, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee.

The parties are planning to hold a meeting of the Belarusian-Lithuanian commission on cooperation in science and technology and to approve the new list of joint Belarusian-Lithuanian projects.

In 2017 Belarus and Lithuania were engaged in six projects within the framework of the Belarusian foundation for fundamental research and 11 under the Horizon 2020. The State Science and Technology Committee provided funding to eight joint projects.

In the second quarter of 2018, Minsk will host the fourth Belarusian-Baltic Forum headlined as Cooperation is the Catalyst for Innovative Growth.
